Rubavu: PAC Rwanda donates food to 150 families affected by Nyiragongo volcano Eruption

This 11th June 2021,150 families of the poorest people in Rubavu district affected by the Nyiragongo volcano Eruption have been provided with food and soap worth Rwf 8.2 million by Pan African Collective Rwanda Chapter.

The event  held in Gisenyi at Evangelical Friends Church was organized by Pan African Collective Rwanda with the support of Pan African Collective USA through non-governmental organizations including Community basef organization  for Peace( CBOPE /ihumure) , Hand in Hand For Development(HIHD), AMEC (African Methodist Episcopal Church), the needy received various grants confirming that this help is going to change  their Life.

Madina Noella, one of the poorest people living in Mbugangari cell in Gisenyi sector, was affected by the volcanic eruption.

She said his property was damaged by the quake coused by Nyiragongo Volcano Eruption and when she and her family were Running  thieves stolen all they had.

After  being given food and soaps she  thank donors who took care of them and gave them food that will change their live.

"What we have been given helps us to live these days in search of a sustainable way of life, to get rid of most of my earthquakes,we thank Donors  and we may God Bless them.’’ Said Madina

Sinzinkayo ​​Egide, the social  Affair  in Mbugangari cell, thanked the benefactors for bringing the food and urged the people to take good care of it.

 "We have families who have been affected by the volcano in Nyiragongo Eruption  now there are given help of food,soap and oil. It is very helpful for us, it is changing the lives of the people and it has come to our aid to improve the cleanliness of the soap and we ask them to use it to make it productive," he said.

 Habimana Tabaro Augustin, the leader of CBOPE-Ihumure, who was involved in organizing the event, said: "We have looked at the people who are most affected by the earthquake and many displaced people. We thank the benefactors of Pan African Collective Rwanda for listening to our request. support. ”

He further urged those who saw the food to share it with their neighbors who did not see it. Even in the coming days they are planning activities to reach out to the victims of the Nyiragongo volcano.

Clemence Mukanama , Legal Representative of the Pan African Collective's Rwanda Chapter  an  American-born organization that aims to connect the American people with the African population now  working in and around Rwanda with the goal of helping especially the needy out of poverty.

She said they had organized an operation to help the needy people in Rubavu district affected by the Nyiragongo volcano Eruption that caused the quake that forced many residents to relocate.

“Together with our families, we came to the aid of the people affected by the Nyiragongo volcano. to help them get their lives back on track. ” and to "make them smile" again

She mentioned that in the future they will  repair the houses destroyed by the Nyiragongo Volcano and continue to help the families affected by it.

The 150 families affected by the Nyiragongo volcano erupted last  May 22, 2021 in Mbugangari cell in Gisenyi sector, one in Rubavu and Rugerero sector where each family was given 10 kilos of agawunga, 10 kilos of beans, rice and 4  soaps and two liters of oil.

The total donation consisted of 1.5 tons of beans, 1.5 tons of flour, 1.5 tons of sugar and soaps and oils all cost Rwf8.200.000  with the support of the Pan African  USA.
