Augustine Philip Mahiga, the former Minister for Law and Constitution in Tanzania, has died suddenly.
On Friday, May 1, 2020, the Office of the President of Tanzania announced that 74-year-old Minister Mahiga had died of an illness.
According to a statement, Augustine Philip Mahiga suddenly fell ill at his home in Dodoma and was rushed to a hospital, where he died.
Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli, who mourned Augustine Philip Mahiga's, said he was passionate about his job and his country as a whole.
The deceased Minister was an activist of the ruling CCM party. He served as Tanzania's Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2015 to 2019.
He resigned in March last year to be replaced by John Palamagamba Kabudi.
It should be recalled that Augustine Mahiga was the Ambassador of Tanzania to the United Nations from 2003 to 2010, and also the Special Envoy of the Director General of the United Nations Office in Somalia (2010-2013).
